Firestone’s modified bitumen cap sheets with UltraWhite roofing granules are a cool roofing solution that is ideal for both new and reroof applications. Unlike traditional reflective-surfaced modified bitumen cap sheets that require additional liquid coatings or surfacing either during manufacturing or after installation, Firestone UltraWhite granules are applied during the manufacturing process. The resulting cap sheet provides greater light reflectivity and lower heat emissivity, reducing energy consumption and electrical demand during hot summer months.
Firestone’s innovative UltraWhite granules are available in SBS and APP modified bitumen cap sheets. They can be applied with hot asphalt, heat welding or cold adhesive, providing greater versatility and appeal for both new and reroof applications. Modified Bitumen with UltraWhite granules are compatible with steel, concrete, plywood and wood decks. UltraWhite granules are resistant to foot traffic and hail and demonstrate excellent granule retention. Since Firestone cap sheets do not require factory or field-applied liquid coatings, the application is cleaner and will not crack or peel.
UltraWhite modified bitumen Cap Sheets are approved by UL and FM and meet requirements for California’s Title 24 regulations and can help achieve points in the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED® rating system. The reflectivity of UltraWhite is also consistent with Cool Roof Rating Council (CRRC) programs.
Firestone UltraWhite modified bitumen products may be included in a 20-year Firestone Red Shield™ Warranty. When installed using Firestone insulation and a cover board, UltraWhite cap sheets are eligible for a 30-year Firestone Red Shield Warranty.
